The hearing aid types
- Behind the ear hearing aids ( BTE ) :
The hearing aid sits behind the ear and is fixed with a sound tube, thin tube or external loudspeaker in the auricle / ear canal.
We distinguish three different types of BTE supply.
Normal sound tube with custom earmold
Thin tube supply
External speaker
- In the ear hearing aids ( ITE ) :
The hearing aid sits in the auricle or in the auditory canal and is fixed with a custom-made ITE shell. We roughly differentiate between four different types:
– Concha ITE
– Halbconcha ITE
– Channel ITE
– CIC ITE (complete in the hearing gag)
These two forms of hearing aids are the most typically supplied. There are also other types of care such as implants, hearing glasses, special designs, etc.
However, these only make up a very small part of the hearing aid supply.
In most cases we recommend an open hearing aid supply. This means that the ear canal is still well ventilated by a supply of hearing aids. This can be custom-made earmolds with a large additional bore (vent hole) in the earmold or with so-called open Domes. An open supply can only be guaranteed with a BTE hearing aid.
